Dashain & Tihar

Sort out your car before the festival rush

Dashain and Tihar are the busiest weeks of the year on Nepal's roads, as families travel home from all over the country. Buses fill up, and cars with drivers are booked well ahead. If you're flying in for the festivals, tell us your dates early — the sooner we have them, the more choice of vehicles and drivers we can offer you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Tell us your plan

Your festival dates, where to pick you up, and the towns or villages where your family lives.

  2. 2

We arrange the car and driver

A SkyTrips consultant matches the right vehicle with a local driver and sends you an itemised quote.

  3. 3

    Confirm and travel

Accept the quote, and your driver meets you at the pickup point — the airport or your family home.

Choose your vehicle

Every hire comes with a local driver. Not sure which one fits? Tell us how many people are travelling and where you're going, and we'll recommend one.

Compact SUV

Suzuki Brezza

Up to 4 passengers

Higher ground clearance — comfortable on the highways and the roads to hill towns.

Electric compact SUV

BYD Atto 2

Up to 4 passengers

Quiet, smooth electric driving for airport runs and trips around the Kathmandu Valley.

  • Out of the valley

Multi-day trips to family in the hills, the Terai or the far-west — anywhere in Nepal.

  • Your route, your pace

A single day or a whole week, one-way or return. Tell us the plan and we'll price it.

Car hire questions

How early should I book a car for Dashain or Tihar?

As early as you can. Festival weeks are the busiest travel time of the year in Nepal, and the first requests get the widest choice of cars and drivers. Sending an enquiry doesn't lock anything in — nothing is booked until you accept your quote.

Can the driver pick us up at Kathmandu airport?

Yes. Choose Kathmandu airport (TIA) as your pickup point and add your flight number in the notes, and we'll arrange the pickup around your arrival.

Can we travel outside the Kathmandu Valley?

Yes — the car and driver can take you anywhere in Nepal. List every town or village you want to visit and we'll quote the whole route, including multi-day trips.

Do I have to drive?

No. Every hire comes with a local driver who knows the roads, so you can spend the festival with family instead of navigating traffic.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the vehicle, the number of days and the route. Send an enquiry and you'll get an itemised quote. There's no fee to ask and no obligation to book.

How do I pay?

Payment details come with your quote, so you'll know how and when to pay before you confirm anything.
